Impressionist composition inspired by the amazing expanses of north Finish wilderness. That vastness and wildness, the seemingly endless natural space is what I wanted to evoke here, Not delineating elements, focusing on harmony and light instead. The couple of reindeer completely immersed in their natural space.
It's very multilayered work too. Started as rather detailed and complete unto itself charcoal rendering, further worked with gouache, layers of varnish and multiple oil paint glazes. The final image matured for a long time and I'm very happy with it.
The work is on a panel I prepared myself (fine 300s/m Canson paper mounted onto mdf board). Signed on the back.
